There are Tequilas, then there’s Código 1530. For many years this was a nameless private label Tequila; a secret whispered about by those-in-the-know and shared only amongst Mexico’s elite and the country’s finest tequilieras and jimadors. This mythical bottling was not something you could buy. Until now.

Código 1530 Rosa is made in Amatitán using seven-year-old agave hearts, cooked in stainless steel and fermented using organic baker’s yeast. Each bottle requires a phenomenal 7.5kg of agave hearts to produce. The fermented juice is then distilled twice in stills built by the distilling family themselves. It’s then rested for one month in the finest uncharred red wine barrels from Napa Valley, imparting that dazzling pale pink hue. And when we say ‘finest’, we really mean it. Although sworn to secrecy, all we can say is that they are without doubt one of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon producers on the planet - a bottle of their Grand Vin would set you back around £3,000.

Utterly unique; the Blanco-style earthy, mineral and vibrant agave notes are interwoven with red berry sorbet from the red wine casks. Sip this tangy and highly concentrated pink Tequila neat or over ice with a slice of blood orange or pink grapefruit.
