94 points “The 2019 Chardonnay Eola-Amity Hills is characterized by broad intense flavours foiled by tangy acidity. It offers aromas of apple pie honeycomb toast and white blossoms and is intensely flavoured ripe and textural finishing with energetic freshness.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Fully deserving of that immense score Cristom Vineyards’ Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay 2019 is sensational stuff. They first planted their own Chardonnay in 1993 but have been able to expand recently through collaboration with neighbouring winegrowers. This means there’s more for us.
This wonderfully textured Chardonnay from Willamette Valley in Oregon is racy with notes of honeysuckle white peach lemon meringue pie pear oyster shell lime grilled pineapple toast and spice. As the experts at Wine Enthusiast say “The juicy fruit flavours energise the wine and set the taster up for sip after sip.” This will be our go-to Chardonnay this summer and beyond especially with shellfish and seafood.
Cristom Vineyards was established by the Gerrie family in 1992 and it’s still family owned today. Paul Gerrie took a punt on a rundown vineyard overlooking Mount Jefferson and named it after his two children Christine and Tom. Cristom operate biodynamic and organic farming methods because they plan on farming this land for the next 100 years so have to protect it. We love a winery with that kind of vision.
