Dalmore’s multi-award-winning Cigar Malt Reserve is the perfect accompaniment to the finest cigars.

Worthy of its Gold Medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2022, it has been lovingly matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques and Matusalem Oloroso casks from González Byass – one of Spain’s most famous and respected Sherry bodegas. The result is a full-bodied and elegantly structured dram, displaying aromas of cinnamon, vanilla and red fruits. On the palate, tropical fruit comes to the fore, alongside toffee sauce, caramelised banana and vanilla ice cream. Finally, there’s an almost festive mix of orange zest, dark chocolate and mulled wine spices on the finish. We can’t think of a better whisky to enjoy alongside a cigar with friends.

As regal, resplendent and undeniably Scottish as the silver stag emblazoned across their bottles is, Dalmore is nothing short of legendary. Early owners of this distillery in Alness, just north of Inverness, came from Clan Mackenzie. Each bottle of Dalmore bears a twelve-point stag in honour of the Mackenzie’s Chief Colin of Kintail, who famously saved King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging buck and was rewarded the right to use this royal emblem. Fortune favours the brave apparently and if you’re looking for Dutch courage, this is a delicious way to obtain it. Especially considering the whiskies are made by the talented Gregg Glass under the watchful eye of the iconic Master Distiller Richard Paterson, a man so skilled he once insured his nostrils for £1.6 million with Lloyd’s of London. The wonderfully mahogany Scotch these two and their team produce at Dalmore is rich and full-bodied, making it the ultimate postprandial dram and a perfect partner to a cigar.
