This Chablis is a terrific introduction to the Moreau wines and their house style. It manages to be both rich and racy at the same time. Expect light tropical notes, almond, lemon curd, chamomile tea, beach pebbles and effortless grace.
Hailing from Fontenay-Près-Chablis (near Fourchaume) and Béru, this is a great value village Chablis, strutting all the taut minerality and classic refreshment you would expect.
J. Moreau & Fils was set up in 1814. But the family business was sold on and then again once more. No Moreau has worked for the company since. So, when Christian Moreau regained the opportunity to promote the family’s wines again, this signalled the coming home of one of Chablis’ great names. Domaine Christian Moreau is now presided over by Christian’s son Fabien. This consistently excellent yet tiny operation boasts over 50% of its 11.5 hectares in Grand Cru sites and that’s why Wine Advocate singles this producer out as “one of the most reliable sources of Chablis in recent years.”
