No tricks just treats. Released just in time for Hallowe’en this limited-edition Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum is not only a massive two-and-a-half-times-the-fun-sized magnum but it also features an awesome “Flaming Mask” design that makes us think of Mortal Kombat’s Shao Kahn enveloped in some kind of radioactive fire ball. This is one of a triumvirate so fans and collectors might also want to keep an eye out for the Flaming Skull and Burst Out bottles.

Worthy of its gold medal at The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2020 Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum takes rich liquor from across the Caribbean and marries it with fruits and spices that evoke Cornish Saffron Cake pomander vanilla pod caramel steeping Christmas cake mix and Pedro Ximénez ice cream – the latter being a speciality of The Rum & Crab Shack in St Ives. Sip it neat mix it with cola or drizzle it over ice cream because every way is a winner.

DMF is to die for. We imagine that a flagon of this rum was prized from the gripping skeletal claws of a drowned Cornish pirate lost to Davy Jones’ Locker. The owners of The Rum & Crab Shack in St Ives then painstakingly recreated the elixir between shifts of boiling and broiling seafaring fare. It may not have gone down quite that way (because we know that Will Borrell of our much-loved Vestal Vodka was also involved somewhere along the line) but that’s what it tastes like when you drink it. However whatever dark magic and sinister skulduggery were employed Dead Man’s Fingers thoroughly deserves its cult following.
