It may not make you loftier or irresistible to the apple of your eye but it does have a card-playing suited-and-booted martini-sipping dog on the label. And more importantly it’s London’s only ‘grain to glass’ vodka. As silky smooth as the dog’s tie this unfiltered vodka is made from 100% English wheat and presents notes of granola rich tea biscuits vanilla cream pastry dough peppercorns and clove. Perfect for living large supping neat or mixing into cocktails particularly a rich and flavoursome vodka martini.

Based in a railway arch in Battersea Doghouse Distillery didn’t take its name from the neighbouring Dogs Home but rather the propensity of its head distiller to land himself in trouble after a night on the sauce. That man is Braden Saunders who describes himself as a closet hipster who couldn’t grow a beard so he makes booze instead. He and his team take wheat mill it mash it brew it ferment it and then distil it all with their bare hands. And it’s doggone good.
