This wine is the standard-bearer for the Côte-Rôtie appellation. A smooth and silky Syrah with just a splash of Viognier for je ne sais quoi. Elegant raspberry and blackberry fruit mingles with vanilla cracked black peppercorns olive savoury smoke and dried flower notes. E. Guigal is a simply legendary winery which has passed from founder Etienne to his son Marcel and now on to his grandson Philippe. According to Robert Parker it’s “a qualitative locomotive that has brought attention to the Rhône Valley raising the quality bar for the entire region.” And Parker has backed this up by awarding it more perfect 100-point scores than any other producer on the planet. Although famed for their Northern Rhône reds the whites are not to be missed either.
