92 points, “Made with Pinot Noir and Meunier, this sparkling Rosé is a blend of 23 reserve wines, as the name suggests. Aged on lees for at least 3 years, it’s intensely bready on the nose with soya and bruised apple perfume. Saline and crisp on the palate, with layers of red summer berries and red apple, leading to umami and peachy depth on the mid-palate and the long finish.” – Decanter
Affectionately known as RB|23 Rosé, this stylish pink fizz from Exton Park is made using only black grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Even though this is a multi-vintage blend, it’s matured on the lees for three years, which is as long as required by law for making Vintage Champagne. Skilfully elaborated using 23 wines from their extensive library of reserves, it’s a delicate rosé of extreme beauty. Elegance is the name of the game here. RB|23’s fine bubbles deliver captivating notes of strawberry liquorice, white peach, rose petal, plum crumble, redcurrant, red apple, fresh baguette and orchard blossom. This food-friendly joy will expertly partner anything from shellfish starters to summer fruit pavlova.
After a decade of development and stringent testing, the team at Exton Park has come to the conclusion that the way to craft world-class sparkling wines in the temperamental climate of the UK is to create Reserve Blends – multi-vintage wines curated from reserve stocks. This approach guarantees consistent excellence year after year, whatever the weather may bring. Exton Park is a unique proposition, because they’re a single-vineyard producer. Their fruit comes from nine plots in one vineyard on chalky South Downs hills. The company is run by Robin McMillan, a gentleman who previously headed up Decanter, The Wine Society and Berry Bros & Rudd, so clearly knows his onions. The wines are made under the watchful eye of Corinne Seely, who has worked in Australia, Languedoc, the Douro Valley and at the prestigious Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. This experienced team was also one of the founding members of WineGB’s Sustainable Wines of Great Britain accreditation. This means that they take the most natural approach possible when growing their fruit, support biodiversity and reduce their carbon footprint using solar power.
