The Cream lives up to its name. First Drop’s top wines are the three single-vineyard wines in their Fat of the Land range. These are three incredible 100% Shiraz reds one from Ebenezer one from Greenock and one from Seppeltsfield. To create The Cream First Drop take the very best barrels of each of the Fat of the Land wines and blend them together at the optimum moment. Bottled in magnum format from the best of the best this is a big wine in all senses.
Tasting a lot like bottled Black Forest gateau this immense red also offers the suggestion of prune blackberry liquorice mocha and woody spices. This is the crème de la crème and anyone who receives a bottle will feel like the cat that got the… well… The Cream.
Set up by Essex boy Matt Gant and South Australian John Retsas First Drop is part winery and part frivolous merrymaking in a ginormous warehouse abandoned by Penfolds. This duo crafts grapes grown by their friends into fun-loving and easy-going wines with remarkable distinction and texture. They also do this without using animal products in the fining process making the entire range vegan friendly.
