This is one of those wonderful reds that is perfect for any time of day and any occasion.
Crafted using local grapes – 95% Cannonau with 5% Muristellu for body – this fresh and unoaked wine is pure joy – raspberries cherry juice geraniums violets pepper rooibos tea and cinnamon. It’s fast becoming one of our go-to reds for weeknights and lunches and its delicious flavour profile makes it truly a wine for all seasons. And we're not alone in our amorous feeling around this red. Wine critic Ian d’Agata writing for Vinous says: “I find Lillovè the entry level unoaked Cannonau to be especially good in almost every vintage.”
This estate has been passed down from generation to generation. Giuseppe Gabbas is now at the helm and has built a well-deserved reputation as one of Sardinia’s finest winemakers. Although the island is generally hot and dry Gabbas is located in the Locoe Valley and benefits from a little air conditioning provided by cool breezes off the sea and the Supramonte mountain. The vineyards are tended using very little by way of pesticides preferring traditional methods and letting nature do its thing.
