Hamilton Russell’s exquisite wines are often consumed far too young. This Vertical Case containing three consecutive vintages of their Pinot Noir allows you to really get to see how they evolve. Each bottle carries a numbered print of a South African artwork from Anthony and Olive Hamilton Russell’s private collection. 2015’s is by Moses Tladi 2016’s was created by Richard Scott and 2017’s label is from Alfred Krenz; now the bottles are as much a work of art as the liquid within. Be warned though only 20 of these cases made their way to the UK so if you want one you'll need to be quick.
According to the experts at Wine Advocate the team at Hamilton Russell “create the best Pinot Noir in South Africa bar none.” This view is widely upheld throughout the wine industry. Writing for Decanter Andy Howard MW describes them as “one of the leading producers of Burgundian-styled wines in the Southern Hemisphere” and their wines as “far removed from many of those coming from Chile New Zealand the US and Australia showing more of a stylistic similarity to the terroir driven wines of the Côte d’Or.”
