Produced at the Murgo winery this vibrant red wine is made from the indigenous grape variety Nerello Mascalese Sicily’s answer to Pinot Noir. The vineyards nestle high above sea level where the vines benefit from the fresh sea breeze cooler ripening conditions and volcanic soils that are rich in minerals.
The distinctive terroir of the Etna region is key in creating the unmistakable and individual character of this red wine combining intense minerality and ripe gentle tannins. Following vinification the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks for 18 months to create a complex and vibrant medium bodied red.
Bright ruby in colour this charming and food-friendly wine displays enticing sweet spice aromas with hints of cherry and red berries. This easy drinking red has the potential to age gracefully over the next five years and is also a versatile accompaniment to a wide variety of pasta dishes herb infused sausages charcuterie and a little chilli heat (maybe not lava hot though).
