Jeremy McKenzie – formerly the winemaker at Villa Maria – not only makes the wines at Isabel Estate but he’s also raising three children competing in ironman competitions risking life and limb participating in various extreme sports and still finds time to rescue the occasional young girl from a flood (for which he was honoured by the Royal Humane Society for Bravery) or disarm illegal poachers. His Sauvignon Blanc is equally as heroic and is a great one to have on hand for serving alongside creamy avocado salty cheeses ceviche spicy Thai and Vietnamese salads or citrus-accented dishes. And finally there’s the bestseller from Te Mata one of New Zealand’s oldest estates having been established in the 19th Century.
