97 points, “The brilliant 2013 Melbury ratchets up the level of extract, with an opaque purple colour, dense blueberry liqueur-like notes along with white flowers, liquorice, and camphor followed by a full-bodied, incredibly seamless, concentrated, multidimensional wine. With its amazing depth and richness, while accessible now, it probably won’t hit its stride for another 5-7 years and last 30-35.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

97 points, “Power, depth and tannic clout - all signatures of this great Napa Valley vintage - come through in the 2013 Melbury. Bright acids and beams of tannin give the flavours striking vibrancy. Black cherry, plum, mocha, pine, sage and crushed rocks are some of the notes that flesh out in the glass, but above all else, the 2013 is a wine of structure and myriad shades of dimension. It is also, in my view, the most complete Melbury.” – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous

97 points, “So much subtle blackcurrant character with hints of roses and lilacs. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and fabulous length. It goes on for minutes.” – James Suckling

Bond Melbury 2013 received scores of 97 points across the board from some of the world’s most respected critics.

Bond was established by H. William Harlan and Bob Levy, the Founder and Director of Harlan Estate, one of the most prestigious names in Napa Valley. While making the wines for Harlan Estate, they spotted a handful of sites displaying distinct character, and decided to bottle these small plots as the “Grand Crus of Napa” under the Bond label. These five wines – Melbury, Vecina, St. Eden, Pluribus and Quella – are some of America’s greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines. The name ‘Bond’ was chosen because it's Harlan’s mother’s maiden name, but also to highlight the link between winemakers and growers in this area of Oakville.

Melbury comes from a property on the slopes to the north of Lake Hennessey, in the hills east of Rutherford. The wine debuted in 1999, and the clay-based soils create elegant Cabernet Sauvignon, renowned for its plush fruit, spice and violet aromas. With its rounded feel, rich crème de cassis, baking spices, floral notes and twist of salty Scandinavian liquorice on the finish, the 2013 is a classic expression of Melbury.
