HARVEY NICHOLS New World Bin End Temptations - Case of Six

Our phenomenal and immensely experienced Wine Buyer Andrew Duncan has compiled a case of his favourite Bin Ends from our New World range. These temptations are the last few bottles of outstanding vintages and rare wine each one offering pure drinking pleasure for those who like something from off the beaten track.
This carefully curated collection opens with three very different white wines. The first is a natural wine from Washington State. Savage Grace’s heavenly off-dry Riesling comes from the volcanic slopes of the Columbia River Gorge and is crying out for something spicy like Thai Malaysian Vietnamese Szechuan or even tacos. Next up is an organic New Zealand Pinot Gris that was awarded a massive 95 points by the Master of Wine Bob Campbell. Based in Nelson Neudorf has created a complex wine with whispers of ginger beer star anise white peach pear baked apple cashew cream and something that reminds us of donning a new Merino wool jumper. The last white comes from a historic winery because it was the very first in Western Australia. As other areas become too hot because of the climate crisis cool-climate regions like Great Southern are beginning to create some of the country’s most exciting wines as Forest Hill’s Mount Barker Chardonnay proves.
Moving on to the reds. The first is a wine that the Australians would call ‘smashable’. A bit of globetrotting inspiration has gone into Koerner’s La Corse. Sangiovese brings a touch of Tuscany Malbec delivers the spice of Argentina cherry fruit comes from the Grenache and last in the line-up is Sciacarello a grape rarely seen outside of Corsica. But all these grapes were grown in Clare Valley and they come together to create a wine that we just love to pair with a big bowl of comforting tomato-based pasta. For the next wine we head back to Washington State for what has to be one of America’s best value reds. The CMS Red Blend from Hedges Family Estate is a perennial favourite at Harvey Nichols but this is the last of the 2016 vintage which was described by the American wine critic Jeb Dunnuck as “undeniably delicious”.
The last of our reds is a classic Malbec from Argentina. Vinterra shot to fame when the International Wine & Spirit Competition crowned one of their wines ‘Best Malbec of the Year’ in 2017. This one produced the year after is winter warmer perfection.
