Bottled at a cask strength of 58.4%, Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof is one that we gobble up whenever we can get our hands on it. Crafted in small batches, it’s a blend of barrels ranging between 6 and 12 years of age. We find it really unfurls with a few drops of water, flowering into flavours of brown sugar, honey roasted almonds, Medjool dates, menthol, smoke, peppery spices, clove, honey, chocolate, caramel, garden herbs, marshmallow and all the pies – apple, pecan and pumpkin – made with buttery pastry. Remarkably complex and devilishly smooth; no collection should be without a bottle.
Headed up by the legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie, Wild Turkey is one of the biggest names in American whiskey. As well as being incredibly popular on the other side of the pond, their Kentucky Straight Bourbon seems to pop up in more films and TV shows than any other.
