99 points “Muscular with great vitality and sensuality Hill of Grace 2017 combines gravitas with grace… Terrific authority strength complexity and length.” – Decanter

99 points “Oh my; you don’t have to do any of the work on the bouquet: it has the most immediate and complex burst of warm spices liquorice wild flowers purple and black fruits. But in the end it’s the intensity and length of the palate that is the measure of its greatness.” – James Halliday

19.5+ points “Like a black panther waiting to pounce this is a youthful vigorous Hill of Grace and while this is not a showy sweet-fruited juicy vintage it is definitely a wine that will appeal to true connoisseurs of this estate because we all know that the leaner more athletic wines will make old bones with ease! 2017 Hill of Grace is akin to a full orchestra performing an intricate piece that requires perfect command of each and every instrument. It is the antithesis of a greatest-hits opera-light track packed with crowd-pleasing crashing and bashing and this is why I really admire just how elegant this wine is in 2017.” – Matthew Jukes

“The atmospheric and beautiful Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz is Australia’s most famous single vineyard wine.” – Langton’s

Grace by name grace by nature. Those phenomenal reviews are joined by scores of 98 points from James Suckling Andrew Caillard MW and Huon Hooke of The Real Review demonstrating that this is an exquisite vintage.

The Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine bestowed an “exceptional” ranking upon Hill of Grace placing it alongside the likes of Penfolds Grange. For those not familiar with Langton’s it’s an auction house that created a classification that has become the honour roll of Australia’s top fine wines. The wines are judged on the demand in the market over at least a decade rather than simply relying on one critic’s opinion on a single vintage tasting. So when they say this is one of Australia’s true greats they really know what they’re talking about.

This pure Shiraz is matured in new French and American oak for 18 months. We weren’t sure that the 2016 could be improved upon but what a follow up the 2017 is. The 56th release of this incredible wine displays notes of cherry raspberry plum blackberry crème de cassis liquorice violets jasmine tapenade Chinese five spice charcuterie hot cross buns plum crumble roasted chestnut cigars oregano sage and a seasoning of salt and black pepper. Rich velvety and mesmerizingly elegant it should be not be missed by anyone with a serious red wine collection.

The Henschke family have been making wine in Eden Valley since 1868. From the biodynamically farmed Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone vineyards Stephen and Prue Henschke create two of Australia’s most sought-after wines. The vines used to make Hill of Grace were planted in 1860 and it’s one of the very best wines in the world.
