Il Marroneto’s Brunello di Montalcino 2017 is spontaneously fermented using indigenous yeast and then aged in large oak casks for an inordinately long time (around 39 months). The result is a spicy Sangiovese with notes of black pepper, juniper, rosehip, raspberry, sour cherry, blood orange, dried rose petals, medicinal herbs and a pinch of sea salt. You could wait five years to drink it, but it’s hard to resist now.
In 1994, Alessandro Mori gave up his law career to make Brunello di Montalcino on the tiny 9-hectare estate of Il Marroneto. And we’re so glad he did.
