Mendoza Torrontés - Case of Six

Tasting Notes
There’ll be no crying for anyone when you taste this delicious Torrontés from the divine hand of winemaker Stephen Huse of the prestigious Belhara Estate. Crisp and aromatic, like the high Andean air these native Argentine grapes are grown in, it makes a cool companion to the heat of Indian and South East Asian food.
Fans of our Malbec will already be well acquainted with the quality of the wines made at the family-owned Belhara Estate. This winery can be found nestled in Argentina’s Uco Valley, beneath blue skies and surrounded by the sharp teeth of snow-capped mountains. The winemaker, Stephen Huse, studied in Bordeaux and then did stints at Château Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Harlan Estate and Almaviva – Concha y Toro’s collaboration with Baron Philippe de Rothschild. He therefore brings a wealth of pedigree, expertise and experience to this project in Argentina.
Like Malbec is the country’s go-to red grape, Torrontés is Argentina’s classic white variety. Renowned for its aromatic intensity and exhilarating freshness, Torrontés is unique and deeply refreshing, especially during the spring and summer months. Notes of honeysuckle, jasmine tea, spice, green grapes and citrus sorbet create a wonderful aperitif, but this dry white really comes into its own when paired with hot spice, satay, coconut-based curries, fresh Vietnamese dishes like bánh xèo and summer rolls, zingy fish (think ceviche, Baja tacos or a Goan curry), and crispy tofu dishes, not to mention crunchy salads. It’s the vinous equivalent of slipping Summer Breeze by The Isley Brothers onto a turntable.
