Don’t be fooled by the Alsace ‘flute’ bottle – this is classic Italian Pinot Grigio with all the finesse and elegance that has made that Friulian wine famous the world over.
The legendary Livio Felluga created one of Friuli’s finest wineries and few have contributed more in building the region’s reputation. He curated an enviable array of vineyards in the heart of Colli Orientali DOC and beyond and his wines have graced the front cover of Decanter Magazine. Sadly he passed away at the age of 102. The mantle has been passed on to his talented son Andrea who has continued the along the path of his forward-thinking father. The estate has embraced screw caps as the best way to keep their wines fresh and crisp making them perfect for picnics and garden parties.
Pinot Grigio is a bud mutation of Pinot Noir and the grapes have very slightly pinkish skins which is what gives this wine its coppery rosy tone. Melon crisp pear dried herbs candied fruit brioche white flowers and a flinty mineral finish this is a classic on its own or with white fish risotto pesto pasta or roasted vegetables.
