Guillaume Nell is clearly a winemaker to watch. His Verdelho comes from a plot in Stellenbosch not far from the sea which was planted in the early 2000s. It undergoes natural fermentation with no addition of yeast or nutrients spends three months on the lees (the spent yeast) for texture and sees no oak whatsoever. Crystal clear like a jewel Lýsa Verdelho buzzes with energy green apple sorbet lemon zest grapefruit crunch nectarine salty sea breezes and pebbly beaches.
“Lýsa” is old Norse meaning “to bring in the light”. This Verdelho does just that; it’s bottled sunshine. Sip this outside all summer long and beyond…
