Although smoky flavours are more commonly associated with Tequila’s rustic compadre Mezcal Humito is the world’s first smoked Tequila. Replicating the way Tequila probably would have tasted in the 17th Century the Master Distillers at Maestro DOBEL have incorporated mesquite wood into the process. Mesquite is famously used in America’s southern states for smoking food but it has its origins in Mexico with the name mizquitl coming from a word in the ancient Aztec language of Nahuatl.
Woodsmoke barbeque and smoked peppercorn notes are layered on top of Maestro DOBEL’s salted caramel butterscotch agave syrup spring blossom and citrus peel smoothness. Sip Humito Smoked Silver Tequila neat alongside chipotle-doused tacos or smoked haddock ceviche. Maestro DOBEL was created by Juan-Domingo Beckmann Legoretta whose family have been the leaders of José Cuervo for many many generations. So this man nicknamed Dobel knows his Tequila. Alongside Master Distillers Marco Anguiano and Luis Yerenas Dobel is blending single estate spirits made in small batches with a focus on refinement. Despite being a relatively young enterprise their super smooth Tequilas are revolutionising the premium Mexican spirit category.
