Martini’s new Fiero lights a fire beneath the aperitivo market. This flame-coloured modern vermouth is a combination of citrus bittersweet Spanish oranges and crisp white wine and it’s blazing a trail to become this summer’s hottest new drink.
Master Blender Beppe Musso and Master of Botanicals Ivano Tonutti have used a careful concoction of Murcia oranges and two different kinds of wormwood – artemisia absinthium and artemisia pontica – that are often used in absinthe. The result is fresh and zingy with notes of tangy grapefruit orange zest white wine and a hint of warming spice. To serve mix 50/50 of Martini Fiero and tonic over lots of ice and garnish with a wheel or orange. Serve with crostini olives cured meats cheeses and nibbles for an authentic Italian experience.
As Martini’s advertising has espoused for many decades this is about beautiful people on the decks of yachts bobbing on the glittering Mediterranean or people-watching from the corner cafés on the harbours of the Riviera.
