Don’t be fooled by the label this is not a pure Merlot. Meerlust’s exceptional winemaker Chris Williams has slipped 8% Cabernet Franc (for structure and freshness) and 4.5% Petit Verdot (for polish and floral aromas) in the mix. And we think it might be his best yet when it comes to this expression. Opulent and dark it displays intense blackberry damson dark chocolate cherry raspberry and spiced plum crumble. It’s just a joy to drink on any occasion and we love that Meerlust wines have all become vegan-friendly since the 2011 vintage. Open it on those dark cold nights when only comfort food and a glass of warming red will suffice.
