The Nikka Whisky Co. was founded by Masataka Taketsuru who is widely acknowledged as the father of Japanese whisky. Established in 1934 the company has two large distilleries and several blending and bottling plants and is now part of the Asahi Group. Nikka Blended Whisky is the producer’s entry level expression and offers a purely seductive expression in the typical inimitable Japanese style.
Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is a new release that is typically refined with a signature fruity and floral freshness. Representing the perfect expression of the distillery’s delicate character there is an emphasis on ex-sherry casks for maturation to bring added depth to this whisky’s natural charm. Aromas of malted barley exotic fruit liquorice and white flowers are suggested on the nose whilst the palate is energetic and flavoursome with flavours of coconut tobacco and chocolate.
