Although weighty this Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes never loses its finesse. Expect cherries plums blackcurrants truffles spices a meaty savouriness and a twist of eucalyptus in the tail that keeps it fresh.
Patrice and Michèle Rion launched their domaine in 1990 with two wines while Patrice was working at the family business Domaine Daniel Rion. When he left they built their own winery in Prémeaux and began to expand their operation. In 2005 after having completed his oenology studies in Dijon and gained valuable experience in Meursault Saint-Emilion and Martinborough Patrice and Michèle’s son Maxime joined the fold. The respected Burgundy critic Steen Öhman of Winehog says of Domaine Patrice & Maxime Rion: “The style is quite refined and fruit driven with a lovely expression of terroir. The wines offer fine energy and are very pure.” This is the kind of innovative and slightly under-the-radar domaine that we adore making it a great one for impressing guests.
