An Officer of the Order of Australia and a Decanter Man of the Year Brian Croser is a luminary a living legend and a true visionary. Rising to fame as the chief winemaker at Hardy’s in the 1970s he would later establish Petaluma Argyle in Oregon and Tapanappa in partnership with Bollinger and the Cazes family of Pauillac’s Lynch Bages. When he set up Petaluma in 1976 he planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Coonawarra and Riesling in Clare Valley. But more importantly he also became the first to plant in the Adelaide Hills (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) a region now considered one of Australia’s finest. Petaluma is built around an ethos of planting the right vines in the right places and Brian Croser’s pioneering spirit and trusted hand lives on in every drop.
