The Colli di Conegliano hills that spill out west from the village of Conegliano are most famous for their sparkling wines; this is area in which Sorelle Bronca create our own Harvey Nichols Prosecco and their jaw-droppingly beautiful Particella 232 and funky Difeto Perfetto. However there’s more to Colli di Conegliano than simply fizz; it also produces fascinating still whites. And that’s exactly what Delico is; think of it as Veneto’s aromatic answer to Alsace with a splash of Prosecco’s joie de vivre just without the bubbles.
Manzoni Bianco (in the words of the American business magazine Forbes: “While this grape may not come around all too often its savoury generous white wines are ones to scoop up.”) Pinot Blanc and Riesling are harvested from organically farmed vines and fermented in a mixture of oak barrels and steel tanks for 12 months. Trapped beneath that cork you’ll discover an intriguing flavour profile of grass pear peach citrus honeysuckle almond chamomile petrol white pepper and salty beach pebbles. Rich and mouth filling yet crisp and refreshing it’s one of those wines you stumble across and ask: “why on earth has nobody ever told me about this before?”
We adore the Prosecco the Bronca sisters Antonella and Ersiliana produce. But nothing prepared us for how unexpectedly good their white is. We recommend serving it with substantial salads quinoa hard cheeses vegetable risottos fresh fish or a summer smorgasbord.
