On 28 June 1969 the Stonewall riots broke out in Greenwich Village New York in response to continued persecution of gay people and brutal police raids. These spontaneous demonstrations in support of the LGBTQ+ community became one of the catalysts for the gay rights movement. A year later the first Gay Pride marches took place and the world was changed forever.
Inspired by the monumental importance of these events Joe Wilson created Spirit of Stonewall seeking to spread awareness through the medium of the gorgeous craft gins made at his family’s distillery in Skegness Lincolnshire. For each bottle sold £1 will be donated to the Stonewall UK charity. Although there have been great leaps forward since that night at the Stonewall Inn intolerance threatens the hard-won rights of the LGBTQ+ community. So make sure your next gin and tonic fights for freedom equality and positive change.
Spirit of Stonewall Rhubarb Gin adds authentic rhubarb flavour to the brand’s classic London Dry Gin which is lovingly crafted using juniper cardamom orange liquorice almonds and the tangy coastal berry sea buckthorn. It takes us back to the rhubarb and custard sweets of our childhood leading into notes of lightly spiced rhubarb crumble tropical fruit pine forest and a lemon peel tang on the finish. We’re going to be loving this all summer long served up with ginger ale. This is a gin that wears its rainbow heart label with pride and we can’t think of a better way to raise a glass to diversity.
