Born of the sea this collaboration between Talisker and Parley is a celebration of wild whisky making and power and beauty of our oceans. Only 1 997 bottles have been released globally and it was shaped by nature like no Scotch before. It’s also Talisker’s oldest and rarest expression to date making it a collector’s dream.

Inspired by an expedition led by Parley Talisker’s partner in ocean conservation to one of the world’s largest sea kelp forests near the Cape of Good Hope. The yacht that took the team of scientists activists filmmakers and whisky geeks out to South Africa also took a batch of Talisker cask staves. Ten barrels were charred by flames fuelled by a mix of the salty and weathered staves from their oceanic adventure and sustainably sourced Scottish sea kelp. Those marine-charred barrels were then used to finish this 44-year-old Scotch.

Talisker x Parley 44 Year Old is sweet and smoky with maritime accents. Expect prickly pepper seaweed smoked sea salt campfires on the beach lemon zest toffee yacht sails sea spray extinguished candles and the warmth of Thai sweet chilli sauce.

Parley and Talisker have joined forces to ‘rewild our seas’. Their goal is to protect preserve and rewild 100 million square metres of marine ecosystems around the world by 2023. The oceans cover 70% of the planet’s surface but only 13% is classified as truly wild and unaltered by intense human activity. Returning our oceans to the way they really should be is going to need some wild spirits like this and you.

For anyone looking for a 44th birthday present this is the ultimate gift. But be quick because most of the bottles will likely end up in the collections of whisky connoisseurs and investors.
