We don’t think there’s a more summery gin on the planet than this one. It’s handcrafted with British strawberries and zesty limes both of which pop with the pepperiness of the juniper. There are eleven other botanicals in the mix these come from all around the world but also include violets picked in Tarquin’s very own garden. This miniature bottle required every one of his four stills – Tamara Senara Tressa and Ferarra – to create it and although it’s completely awesome in a G&T we love to use it to give Pimm’s a boost or to take a Gin Basil Smash to the next level.
Tarquin Leadbetter’s Southwestern Distillery in Cornwall produces craft gin at its finest. Their copper stills sit on a bed of bricks and everything is done by hand including the bottling labelling signing and wax dipping. Botanicals are macerated for 12 hours and the stills are heated with a naked flame and sealed with bread dough. This is the kind of back-to-basics that every craft drinker will love. And the flavours coming out of Cornwall’s first distillery in over a century are incredible – but that comes as no surprise when you learn that young Mr Leadbetter was a classically trained Cordon Bleu chef before embarking on his gin journey.
