Arguably Italy’s most famous and collectable wine Sassicaia has an iconic reputation built on an incredible longevity and exceptional quality. The name Sassicaia translates as 'the place of many stones' and refers to the region’s gravel rich soil similar to that of areas of Bordeaux which were an inspiration for the creation of this wine. Composed of a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc the first release of Sassicaia was released in 1971 and was greeted with immediate acclaim. Since then this 'Super Tuscan' wine has gone from strength to strength and is always in high demand. The 2008 is a classic release which displays elegance and complexity on the nose with beguiling notes of red fruits smoke herbs nuts and discreet oak. Rich silky and dense in the mouth with an incredible depth of flavour beautifully layered delivery and ultra expressive character. Sassicaia 2008 will continue to improve over the next 25 years and beyond.
