Barossa Valley is famed for its big reds but Turkey Flat Vineyards prove just how world class the region’s rosé can be. This is a fine wine to rival anything produced in Provence.
Although crafted from pure Grenache those grapes come from a multitude of small parcels giving the wine an incredible complexity and texture. The first thing that hits you are the heady aromas of tangerine summer berries cherry blossom and delicate talcum powder followed by red berry sorbet earthy spice caraway lime and pink grapefruit. This is one of those gastronomic rosés that makes you realise that rosé can be so much more than simple summer quaffing.
Turkey Flat Vineyards can be found on the banks of Tanunda Creek where the wild bush turkeys used to roam. Some of the estate’s vines were brought from the Rhône Valley to Australia and planted in 1847 making them now some of the oldest vines in the world.
