The last vintage of Two Vintners Syrah from Columbia Valley in Washington State was described by Wine Enthusiast as “seamless” and picked up Red Wine of the Year in the local Seattle Magazine. The entire vintage promptly disappeared. We’ve managed to secure some of the last releases but with only 900 cases made in total they won’t last long.
Grapes come from Stoney Vine Discovery Stonetree Boushey Dineen Yellow Jacket Olsen and Pepper Bridge Vineyards. These are magically woven together to creating a melange of brambly hedgerow blackberries an earthy forest character spicy black tea tapenade and wildflowers. It’s a real celebration of Washington State what can do; combining New World power and intensity with Old World elegance and polish. It loves the umami quality of Chinese dishes but is equally at ease with roast lamb barbeques or anything with lots of black olives in it.
This was one of the wines that made Two Vintners. Established in 2007 Morgan Lee and David and Cindy Lawson (that sounds like three to us too) ignored the trends and stuck to the Syrah and Merlot that they knew grew so well in Washington State. Although always experimenting they maintain their focus on making their wines delicious and original - and have succeeded with everything we’ve tasted so far.
