The history of this famous Champagne house dates back to 1772 when Philippe Clicquot founded a wine-making business under the name Clicquot. In 1810 this was renamed Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin after the young widow Barbe Nicole Ponsardin who inherited the estate. In pursuit of excellence and innovation, Madame Clicquot used her skills to develop an exceptional wine-growing territory and established what is today one of the most famous names in Champagne.
The predominance of Pinot Noir, a touch of wines produced in oak casks, and the prolonged ageing on the lees gives the complexity and aromatic richness synonymous with Veuve Clicquot Vintage styles.
