WALSH WHISKEY Writers' Tears Red Head Irish Whiskey
Natural redheads make up just 2% of the human population making them as rare and distinctive as this incredible Irish whiskey.
Writers’ Tears Red Head is a triple-distilled single malt that has been matured in Sherry butts seasoned with the finest Oloroso. That Sherry influence is what gives the whiskey the ruby-red hue that inspired its name but also all the wonderful praline nuttiness marmalade spiced Christmas cake fruit chocolate-covered raisins creamy marzipan and lingering oak you’ll taste when you sip it. Winner of a gold medal at The Irish Whiskey Masters in 2019 this is an exceptional taoscán – pronounced “tash-cawn” and meaning dram in Irish. Ireland may boast the most redheads per capita in the world but they create few whiskeys better than Red Head.
Inspired by the golden era of Irish whiskey Rosemary and Bernard Walsh established Walsh Whiskey in 1999. In their quest for the most “perfect drop of whiskey imaginable” they have created contemporary takes on traditional recipes from the 19th Century under two brands: The Irishman and Writers’ Tears. Constantly pushing boundaries along the way they’ve been responsible for the first blends of premium Pot Still and Malt whiskeys the first Irish cask-strength whiskey of the modern era and the first Organic Single Pot Still whiskey not to mention building the largest manually operated distillery in Ireland.
The Writers’ Tears series pays homage to the creative thinkers and artists that have defined Irish culture such as George Bernard Shaw Oscar Wilde W.B. Yeats Lady Gregory James Joyce Samuel Beckett and Bram Stoker. Will this bottle inspire you to put pen to paper?
