Master medal award-winning Wire Works Alter Ego Single Malt Whisky showcases a bold and innovative twist on traditional English Whisky making. The expression has been distilled with alternate cut points to previous Wire Works whisky’s and reveals a richer fruit character which complements the soft peat smoke, enhancing the overall complexity and depth of spirit.
The whisky leans more on the first ex-bourbon casks than previous releases, emphasising the vibrant fruit notes along with a bolder vanilla profile. Aromas of lemon meringue, fruit sweets, ginger, vanilla pastry and caramel cream swirl on the nose and are followed by tropical fruits, honey, caramel, gingerbread and malted milk biscuits on the palate. The finish highlights Caramac, gooseberries and shortbread all with underlying light peat notes. Alter Ego is bottled at 51.5% ABV, 100% natural colour and non-chill filtered and strikes a balance of higher strength with approachability. It stands as a testament to the White Peak Distillery’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of whisky production while preserving the essence of English distilling heritage.
